Beltane is on May 1st, the same date as the mundane holiday of “May Day”.

New life has sprung up in the world as fertility has become manifest. Older agrarian cultures would be very busy in the fields. Fertility rites such as dancing the May pole abounded.

This is a great celebration of fertility as we feel the rise of the world coming to life within and around us.

The power of nature is far more than just a stirring and lends active energy to our endeavors.

The God and Goddess are in sacred union and the Goddess becomes pregnant with the Sun Lord who will be reborn at Yule. The joy that Persephone’s Mother feels at having her back is apparent in the blooming luscious world.
